Whenever I see I have a school email my first thought is, I wonder what I did wrong now.

And that sums up my year.

You opened the email. 1 of my bf's and I worked w/ the same crabby secretary of our supervisor
a few yrs. Every time I opened 1 of the emails from her it was telling me something I did wrong. She could rant too and was wrong 1/2 the time at least. After awhile, my bf and I started talking about this woman and her nasty emails.
I noticed how my friend was not bothered by the emails after awhile. When I asked her, "Why?" She told me that when ever that lady sent her anything, she'd never open it, but hit delete. She seriously got away w/ it for 2 yrs. It was a counseling agency ( not a school.) Sorry you have a mean P. <3

I wish I had a magic wand for you. Seriously, in my dreams you get the perfect job and just before you leave, you let loose on your P.

My feeling is always, Good, Lord. What new asinine thing are they expecting us to do now.

We are constantly getting emails critiquing every little bit of our IEPs down to an atomic level. And being told we need to comply with every new little mandate (ex: you cant write dates in your IEP goals until after the meeting has taken place) because someone in rural Idaho got his/her feelings hurt over an incorrect date on an IEP. It really is causing distress for me and frankly a lot of depression over feeling like I never do my job exactly the way everyone else wants me too. I cannot live up to their expectations of perfection.

I have so much email anxiety. I still can't help myself and check it all the time though. Hopefully your emails either die down or stay positive!

I'm so sorry, that really sucks. I try to avoid checking my work email at all during the evenings and weekends. There's really nothing I would "need" to see then (my teammates will all communicate by text if there's something up with them). If you don't do this already, maybe it would be somewhat helpful?

I too wish you could tell your P what you really think!

Thats how I felt last year at the public school I retired from. Emails from the P gave me such anxiety it made my blood run cold. Most of the time it was a scolding. Im so glad I was able to leave.

Weighing the pros & cons of checking my email outside of contract hours, I decided not to look at it any longer from my home. The next school morning may be an unhappy one as I open my inbox but I won't let it bring me down on my own free time.
I often hear colleagues say they respond almost immediately. That teaches others that you're available at mostly all hours of the day/night.

No thank you.
