Scrabble Site

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Someone last year posted a Scrabble site for kids. Daily letters were given and a list of words that could be made from them. I used it at the end of the year and my kids loved it. It was not on the official Scrabble site. My computer crashed this fall and I lost this among many other Favorites. Anyone recall?

I use the 5th grade one with my fourth-graders. (We need something to keep them engaged these days). We don't end until the 26th. Anyway it's school.scramble-assoc and then link to Do Now section. Try it! They loved it. It is useful to teach them new vocabulary and practice their computation as well.

My Principal wanted me to share Scrabble as a means to teach academic vocabulary to our staff. The selfish PTer that I am...forgot to share.

Since there are not enough words to get through the school year on their site, I started adding science, social studies, math, literature vocab to keep the interest up. At the end of the year we started doing words with 10 letters and they were very excited.

On Wednesday, I will be holding a Scrabble contest and crown the vocabulary champion of the year!

I think this Scrabble activity has been the greatest find here on PT. Thank you to whoever posted this idea originally!

It looks like it is only for grades 5-8. I viewed the 5th grade level, but it looks like it would be WAY too difficult for my students. Are you aware of any for lower grade levels. This is a really cool idea!
