I just registered for the week long workshop. I'm really excited but nervous because I paid for it myself. I just really feel I want to make some positive changes next year, especially in classroom management. I've been forewarned about the kiddos coming in. I'm going to order some books now to get me ready.

You will not regret it at all! I did the same one about 8 years ago and I still integrate so much of what I learned in my classroom. I personally have gotten the most mileage out of The First Six Weeks. GREAT book!

You won't regret it...your head will swim with thoughts and ideas and you will be so excited by all the amazing information you'll learn. Be ready to really be reflective about your philosophy and knowledge as a teacher...

The more you put into it the more you'll get out of it. If you have any great insights, or just some questions as you go through the course, please don't hesitate to come on here and let us know!

Thanks so much for your support. I'm going to order The First Six Weeks, Rules in School, and The Power of Our Words. Is that overkill?

When it comes to books (teacher resource and children's), I say that there's no such thing as overkill! Happy reading!

I have been considering going for training (although it looks like it would have to be Ewing NJ for me)--The first 6 Weeks of School was required reading for my post-bac program and I purchased the Morning Meeting book because I was trained in Open Circle and it was suggested to me--but I feel that I need some more strategies to be effective...

When I became a Candiate to become a Certified Responsive Classroom Consultant Teacher, I was sent an entire library of books and videos.

I can honestly say I already owned about 1/2 and the other 1/2 I had lusted over... I use them ALL THE TIME!!!!!! I also loan them out frequently.

You can never have overkill on the books. i promise....

I just wanted to say...Congratulations! You'll love it. I paid last year and do not regret it one smidge. I can't believe how much I am looking forward to my RCII Institute. Have fun!

I think your book picks sound great. They will all give you a solid foundation for your new year and in addition to the institute, you'll be golden!

Come back here and talk about it with us!

You will be so pleased. The RC institute was one of the best conferences I've ever attended.

Enjoy!

You will love RC. I went to RC1 this past November and this July I am doing RC2 with another teacher. I am trying to become a certified consultant now. This way of teaching has changed my philosophies for the better.

My favorite book is The First Six Weeks of School

I also have The Morning Meeting Book, The Rules in School and an energizer book (forget the name of it)

I love all these books...I want to read Caltha Crowes' books next.

Happy RC to you!

I also signed up for RC1 and paid for it myself. I just completed the week long course and it was absolutely the best conference I have ever been to. I have been teaching for 15 years and I am reenergized and enthusiastic about implementing all of the strategies. The conference modeled exactly the same philosophy it seeks to set up in the classroom by meeting the 3 basic needs of fun, significance and belonging.
Best of luck and I'm sure you will not regret one minute! Responsive classroom is the way to go!
