I've never looked up there. I've lived here since July.
If it had pull down stairs, I would've definitely been up there and probably used it for storage, but it's one of those that you need a ladder to push up on a small door.
I also have one in the garage. There may be millions of dollars up there, and I'm sitting here working 5 jobs (ALL of which are basically cancelled).
that we might find something decent in our garage attic when we ventured up there several years ago. The best item was a wooden fruit crate. Not worth anything, but decent for storage at least. No great riches.
I was thinking it would freak me out a bit to have not checked out the attic in a place I lived, but then I realized I have lived in a place and never checked out the little crawl space above. So.... I hope you find your millions! Or, better yet, billions and you choose to share with all your PT friends.....
Whenever I would see my cats patrol the baseboard in the kitchen I knew mice were around. Last year my nephew renovated my kitchen with the promise the mice would not be able to enter. What I wasn't prepared for was that when he had to go the attic to add a supporting beam he found evidence that mice had been there first. I didn't need to know that!
When we moved in 10 yrs ago we found 2 really cool MCM wood chairs. I refinished them and sold them. We also found a pretty sizeable box of clothesline and clothespins.
My mom's BFF bought a house back in July and has been steadily redoing it ever since. Last weekend, he tore into a closet that was really dinky and dark. Imagine his surprise when he found cigar boxes (2 of them). One had over $600 in it (bills were dated 40s-50s) and the other had a bunch of coins from the 20s-30s. The house had belonged the seller's family since it was built in the early 1900s.
Anyway, the moral of the story, Gr8Catsby--go for it! You really might find something intriguing up there!
I bought this house new and I have never been in the attic. My xhusband probably was. Come to think of it, I had a couple of Rubbermaid totes of childhood mementos that I can’t find - maybe they are in the attic!
I moved into my house in September and have never been in the attic. I have plenty of storage without it and it majorly creeps me out- I don't want to know what's up there. The inspector went up there, so I assume if there were treasures he might have reacted .
I moved into my house in July of 2000. I’ve never been in the attic. My dad, EX, and DH have been in there, so no treasures.
However, the attic in my garage contained a box of old textbooks and some pieces of railroad tracks. My house was owned by a railroad worker and a teacher.
I bought this house about 5 years ago- I have never been in the attic or had anyone else go in.
Last week I cleaned the unfinished area in the basement. A dead mouse came very close to falling on my head... so I’m thinking I don’t want to see what’s in the attic :P
