What the hell happened to this Turkey?

This is only my 3rd turkey I've ever cooked. My first was too many years ago to count. Last year's came out amazing. Bought another Butterball this year. Same size as last year's, however it has been taking its time to thaw. I pulled it out of the fridge to get it ready to cook and the entire cavity is one chunk of ice. Is that normal? I'm feeling like it was filled with water to increase the weight for market.

This year, I bought two turkey breasts instead of a whole turkey. I figure that way, were getting more meat and less bone and water.

Just heard on GMA to put it in cold water and it will thaw in 30 minutes. Good luck!

I debated that. The turkey seems mostly okay. It was just the chunk of ice inside that threw me off.

Every year. Its the bag of organs that flat out refuses to thaw. Youd think Id remember this every year. Nope.

I hope your turkey tastes great Hifiman. Next year you may want to buy a fresh turkey that has never been frozen. They turn out so well!
