Today is...
Yesterday was...
Tomorrow will be...
Today will be a good day because...

I model this with students in the beginning of the year and then they write independently in their morning folder. (Great morning day activity.)

I have a calendar.

Weather chart..

Place value chart counting up to 100's day of school...then we count backwards from 80 until the last day of school.

100's board we complete a different pattern every ten days...AB, ABB, ABA, ABC, and etc.

100's day tally marks.

Problem of the day.

And something else but I can't remember. !!

I typically have a calendar...the pieces we put up each day make a different pattern every month.I also have a 100s chart, 100's place value chart with 3 pockets (ones, tens, hundreds). And sometimes I put a strip of paper for tallying the days of school.

Everything else I do on the Smartboard now.
We tally, show the value of the day of the month with coins (If its Spetember 25 we put a quarter or 2 dimes and a nickel, etc) I also use the smartboard to do a quick clock review, 10 frame review, and base 10 block review. I love using the smartboard for this because it gives more options and takes less space. ;-)

this is what I have:

*a calendar, (date, month year)
*today is, yesterday was, tomorrow will be,
*weather dial arrow points to: rain,, snow, sunny, cloudy, etc.
*Season dial,
*counting to 100th day 100s chart...we put a sticker up for each day- I just found another poster chart of 100-200! cant wait to use this after the 100th day!!
*Money -plastic coins, where we put up the number of day of school in coins...
*place value chart- with straws showing the number day of school.
* I have my sight word poster displaying the 4-5 words of the week
*Bible verse for the week
* classroom rules

This sounds like a lot- but it goes so fast each morning...takes 5 minutes totall, I have the Calendar Person fix everything up while the class does their morning work (Drop In The Bucket) we then gather at the rug, and "do" the calendar, then stand and say our pledges..this year while they are standing I will do a quick uniform check (belts, shirts tucked in, etc..) - an oh at the top of the bulleting board where all this hangs I have this saying: This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! -could be changed a bit...to accomodate public school

Drops in the Bucket is a worksheet that has a little bit of everything on it. It builds and gets harder from the beginning of the year. But it also is always in the same order...that I love.

If I remember correctly it is by Frog Publishers...I use them for reading and math morning work everyday.

Thank you for the Drops in the Bucket idea! I just looked it up online and I love the format! I am thinking that the first two books in reading and math would probably be appropriate for first? How do your higher kids feel about it - do you give them a higher review sheet, or does everyone get the same?

Well it changes during the year but here's some of what I can remember for beginning first grade:

-write the date 3 ways
-10 more/10 less
-1/more/1 less
-Equations for a number
-money pocket chart for days of school with 4 ways to represent the number
-manipulative clock and our class clock
-decomposing a number
-100's chart
-tally mark chart for days of school
-Running total for days of school with even days circled
-calendar
-fact families
-doubles chart
-money value chart

I think I have 700 pictures of my room last year but none of math wall. How does that happen?
