Are you glued to the news?

My husband is. I just let him know that I can't be. I'm keeping up, but I can't listen constantly. I learned from 9/11, I get very obsessed and I can't handle it.

Not really. I had the news on yesterday with the volume low, so I could pay attention when I wasn't in the middle of something. Today I haven't even turned it on.

I get plenty of updates with emails from school. I'm like you - I can't handle too much of it.

No. It makes me feel too anxious. Iím more concerned with my mental health than my physical health at the moment. So along with staying home, Iím doing a lot of reading and listening to books along with meditating, journaling, and praying.

I give myself a few minutes of news each day . Too little information or too much information can be a bad thing.

I need to be more mindful of limiting myself now. The past week I feel like each day brought dramatic changes and it was all new. Now I just need to turn it off so I don't get so anxious.

No! I watch a little of the morning and then a little at night. We return to school tomorrow and I was really struggling this morning with overwhelming feelings of what they expect us to do for remote learning. .

I put the Soundscapes Nature music channel on all day while I worked on report cards and it helped.

I watched Dr Phil today and the show eased my mind.

I noticed the news agitating me

I watch and listen to very little of it. I am thinking about this week only. next week I will take care of that week. One week at a time. Trying not to think too far ahead. Going for lots of walks.

Contradicting

Even when itís a straight interview itís contradicting. I know everything is in an uproar . I just rather get the word once it is the word/ fact rather than opinions.

I was on Friday and Saturday. I felt like the Sh1t hit the Fan on Friday (at least in the news I was getting). Now I'm limiting my news exposure. I get a little each evening. That's enough for me.

I felt similarly during 9/11 and all other emergency types of situations- watching constantly for a while then taking a big break.

I have actually started watching NHK world news (Japanese channel) for news. I get the world news in about 15 minutes without all the drama and politics and when the news is over I get to see segments about life in Japan. It has taken away a lot of stress I get watching American news.

A little more than before covid-19 started, but not overly so.

We donít have cable or an antenna, so our only news source is online.

We do watch the governorís 5pm address every day. Otherwise, we donít stress over it. At this point we just stay home and wait it out.

Yes, but I'm kind of a news junkie anyway.

Nope, I had to stop since I was getting anxiety. I might put it on for a few minutes, but no longer than 5 minutes.

I don't watch all day coverage or anything like that, but I do make a point to watch either the 6:00 or the 10:00 news daily. I feel that it is important to stay informed. We have been doing some virtual meetings and my teammates who have purposefully not been watching had no idea this is all likely to be extended beyond our original closure (March 30th). Before all of this I read some news sources but never watched the televised news unless I was hoping for a snow day the next day/wanted to see the live coverage on that. My how times have changed!

I am taking a break from watching the news or reading the front section of the newspaper. It was getting me anxious.

Is your husband out of the hospital?

I pay enough attention to the news to stay up to date but I don't need minute by minute non-stop news.

Yes he got home late yesterday. He feels like they pushed him out because of the virus but he's able to take care of himself at this point.

Nope. Our governor is doing an AMAZING job with daily briefings. I check out his evening one and watch the local and national news. Then I go about enjoying my time at home with my kids.
