Anyone do anything special for Easter/Spring? Wanted to do something special for my 5th graders before Spring Break. They have been working so hard and state testing begins when we return from vacation. Any ideas? I only have ideas for primary grades. TIA

We have an egg drop the Friday before break. Prizes are awarded for the most creative container, best design, etc. Everyone who creates a container that successfully protects their egg receives a prize. It's great fun and the 4th graders come out and watch, as they will participate the following year. It's a nice way to end the day!

I have done the Jelly Bean activity in past years. It can be found on www.lauracandler.com I believe under seasonal math ideas. It is great! Not really Easter related other than it uses jelly beans, but the kids enjoy it.

Love the egg drop idea! Do you give them specific materials or have a rubric they follow? I would love to know more about it.

I don't teach 5th but we used to do an egg drop when I did an afterschool program. You can just give them a box(like a shoebox or a small box) They must insulate it materials like, paper, etc. Then we took it to the play equipment on the playground and dropped it from on top of it. Even 1st graders loved this activity
