I need to put together a math lesson for the US regions or the states. Any ideas? I don't want it to be too involved or a big project because I am already assigning other projects. Thanks for any help

You could compare populations on a graph. You could do a place value lesson with reading populations.

Fraction/decimal/% for states in each region (Not sure what regions you are using, but example Midwest region 10 states - 10/50 = 1/5, 0.2, 20%)

Ratios - comparing states in different regions

Probability - what is the probability of choosing a Midwest state, or a state that begins with the letter M. or More likely, least likely, equally as likely

Combinations - a state from one region and a state from another region

Conversions - miles to yards, feet, inches

Write story problems usng multiple step equations. Joey bought 4 souvenirs from the Northeast region and several from the other regions. He had a total of 10 when he returned home. How many souvenirs did he buy from the other regions?

0r (depending on level), if the souvenirs from the Northeast region represents 20% of his souvenirs, how many souvenirs did Joey buy while on his vacation?

Just some thoughts. Hope that this helps.
