How long do you have each day for language arts? My school is going to a new schedule where we only have 65 minutes a day. Right now, I have students for 2 45 minute blocks a day. I am expected to teach grammar, writing (state assessed in fifth), reading, vocabulary, and spelling in this amount of time. I barely get it all done in 90 minutes, and I teach from bell to bell. Something's gotta give...our scores are doomed to go down. HELP!

I have 75 minutes to do it all. Unfortunately my kids lack in the grammar, writing and spelling department. My kids take a state reading assessment and my P insists I teach the state assessment, so alas, they go without. I fought him for 2 years on it until I just gave up. I essentially get 2 months after The Test to do what I can in the area of grammar.

two hours and twenty minutes for reading, writing, and grammar skills. The kids also read silently for a bit each day during other times. It's plenty. Time is mandated by state.

105 minutes for reading. Another 30-45 minutes daily for spelling, grammar, and writing. We teach very little social studies and sicence.

We have 90 mins for Reading. We do get in grammar and and writing but not a lot or enough. We only take a pre spelling test on Monday and a Final on Friday and its up to the students to study the words on their own.

For now we have 3o minutes writing, 30 minutes for spelling and grammar, 60 minutes for reading, 15 minutes for read aloud, and 30 minutes for Independent Reading. I have heard things may change though.
