I know students have made this over and over but believe it or not I had several that had not made ice cream in a ziplock bag yet! So we made it today as a fun activity and it was really good. I have made it in the past and it only turned to milk shake but the recipe today made it into ice cream in minutes. So if you would like something to do please do the ice cream in the bag!

How did you do it? What were the directions and ingredients? I would love to try this.

Ice cream

quart zip lock bag
gallon zip lock bag
put 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 tablespoon sugar
1 cup of whole milk into the ziplock bag. then put 4 cups of ice and 4 tablespoon of rock salt in gallon bag. put quart bag in side of gallon bag both sealed tightly with no air inside. shake for about 5 minutes and it is ready! You have to have the rock salt that i found at walmart for $2 near the ice cream makers. I have tried other recipes that did not work but the rock salt is what makes the difference. Please let me know if works for you!

This sounds like so much fun. Did you give each student there own bag? I may have the students do this after testing in May, but I will definitely report in when I have my students complete this.

Thank you very much!!

No i paired them up due to how cold the bag will be when shaking it. It was enough for 2 to share. Just make sure they shake it until it is hard like ice cream. It want take long. If it looks like milk shake tell them to continue to shake!

If you can find small and large coffee cans, it works with them also. Kids roll them around on the playground.
