Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am in the early stages of planning, and I am thinking about doing a carnival theme for my kindergarten class next year. Any decorating suggestions? I need ideas for the following things:

Class Jobs BB
Good Work BB
Calendar BB
Centers
Names for Student Tables
Door Decoration
Rules BB
Hallway BB

Here are some ideas:

"Keep your eye on the prize!"- bb title and hang up carnival-type prizes

"Keep your eye on the target!" or "Bulls eye!"-bb title and display some sort of dart game maybe for a behavior BB

"_________ is a cake walk"- bb title for anything

For your word wall, you can call it "Tilt-o-Word" instead of "Tilt-o-Whirl."

"Kindergarten: A Ride of a Lifetime"- bb title for hallway, display with pics of rides

"Step Right Up to Kindergarten!" -Have a pic of carnival man/woman w/red and white striped coat and straw hat

"Welcome to the Big Top"- pic of red and white tent w/student pics around tent, write student names on big red tickets

"Juggling Jobs"- job chart bb with pic of juggler

"We Don't Clown Around in Kindergarten"- behavior bb

"______ is a real treat!"- display w/carnival food pics (cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs, etc.)

"_________ Makes the World Go 'Round!"- w/pic of ferris wheel

"Get in the Game of Learning!"- display w/carnival game pics

"Keep a Winning Attitude!"- behavior bb w/pics of carnival kids w/prizes

Another Cute Idea!

There are so many creative people on this site! I LOVE it!

1. Make big, colorful balloons to attach to your walls or hang from your ceilings. You could do these with paper mache, fabric, paper etc.

2. Purchase those giant/colorful lollipops and outline your bulletin boards with them or hot glue them around the room!

3. Create carnival tickets and write the student's names on them for your job chart.

4. Go to OrientalTrading.com & type in carnival, they have a whole section dedicated to this theme!

5. You could get movie popcorn containers to keep classroom supplies in (pencils etc).

6. Paper mache balloons that have been twisted & turned into the animals etc and paint them bright colors and attach them to your walls.

7. You could purchase some pinatas and hang them!

8. I found some colorful stovepipe hats on OrientalTrading.com...how cool would it be to attach them all together and create cubbies??

9. Lots of bright colors and funky patterns would help too! I love to use fabric for my bulletin boards...you could get like polka dotted fabrics and borders!

10. You could google "carnivals" and print pictures of various carnivals from around the world (Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras) and hang them around your room. That would be a great insight into other cultures!

11. Masks could be hung around the room too. A cheap way to do this is to get the masks/accessories at a craft store and make them yourself. Hobby Lobby (if you have one near you) is the best place. Great prices and tons of craft things!

12. Check out the picture on this link. Look at the fabric that is draped across the stage. It would be awesome if you could buy some bright colored fabric and drape it across your ceiling. You wouldn't have to cover the whole thing, just drape some around!

Hope this helps! If I think of anymore, I will post!

Oriental trading has a bright colorful big top canopy that you can use for a reading center in your room. I have the ocean and safari ones. They are beautiful and will create a great splash in your classroom. I can't wait to use mine next year with 3rd grade The canopies are in the drama section of the oriental trading on line catalog.
