Need creative name for "star of the week"
Old 07-13-2007, 06:57 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have an ocean/beach theme and have called my star of the
week "Sea Star of the Week". I would like to change it up
with another fun name that has anything to do with the
ocean or beach.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Catchy Idea

I really like your idea of changing things up... change is good!

I like "Catch of the Week" but I was thinking of your bullentin board being more of menu and you saying something of the "Special of the Week" and having the child maybe write things about themself in a menu style. You could use a Chef or a waiter as the character and put their face under the hat to personalize it. Maybe you could decorate the board with your ocean characters and let he/she put their friends or family around them.

Just thinking outside the box and helping you 'serve-up' something a little 'catchy' for your room.

Good luck...I love the ocean theme!

What about using a ship theme and calling them the captain of the crew?

"Sea Star" of the week. I'm looking for a HUGE starfish to put on the wall and display the special child's poster they make at home.

Sand Castle

How about Prince or Princess of the Castle (or King and Queen). You could use a picture of a sand castle and the student picture could be one of the windows or something.

If you can find pictures of seashells (or even light-weight real ones), the child could write his name on one and decorate the castle with his shell, with a new shell being added each week (that is if you also have a nice picture of a plain-looking sand castle).

I'll keep thinking...

Starfish is really incorrect, they are ....

SEASTARS!

You could have yours up for the first weeks, and read a NF book on sea stars, and teach the kids the correct name for a "starfish" is "sea star"....etc......
