Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a cricut for home. I am mainly thinking of using it for bulletin boards, but I'm sure I'll branch out from there. Which machine do you suggest I get? I do have some larger letters to cut for big boards or areas.

I have a Cricut Explore Air.

I mostly do adhesive vinyl because I label everything, but I have done cardstock bulletin board letters.

You can do designs up to 12Ē X 24Ē with it.

I did the black numbers (card stock) and the red numbers (adhesive vinyl) with my Cricut.

how do you use this "missing work" system. After 25 years I still don't have a great way to keep track of missing work. Will you share your procedure?

Every time I assign something, I write the names of the absent students on half of an index card. When I score the work, I add any names of kids who didnít turn in the work. The back of the card has instructions for the assignment.

When the student completes the work, he/she puts the assignment in the box to the left and marks his/her name off the list.

I put all materials in Google Classroom so I donít have copies of things floating around everywhere.

When grades are due, I take all of the cards down, and everything I didnít get turned in is a zero. I keep the cards in case a kid of parent says they didnít know something was missing.

Iíve tried a ton of different methods, and this one has worked best for me. This is my second year with the black file boxes and my fourth year with the pocket chart. Before the black boxes kids just turned things in the same boxes with every day assignments.

I supplement this with a check sheet I designed. The names are on it, and there are two columns next to the name. I put it on the table beside the boxes where kids turn in work. They must 8nitial beside their name when they turn work in. That becomes my grade sheet. That way when kids say they KNOW they turned it , I can show them in my gradebook where they didnít initial AND the missing work slip with their name on it.

Ima Teacher,

Thank you for sharing your procedure. I have a couple additional questions:
What are the numbers for on the chart and on the black boxes? Do you put the index cards in the pocket chart? If so, how do you decide where to put it and which side of the index cards do the kids see...the side with the names on it?

I think I could tweak this to work for me. It surely seems to cover all bases.

The numbers are class periods. The cards go in the pocket chart. The kids see the name side. They wonít turn a card over to see if their name is there, but they will walk by and look for their name.
