Doctor wants me to come in today...

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am really nervous. Last week i went to the doctor because of nausea and stomach pain (mostly nausea) that I've been having for a long while & has been getting worse the last few weeks. He had me go get an ultrasound, and said he would just call me to talk about the results.

Well the drs office called today and said they want me to come IN to talk to about the results.

That can't be good can it? He said he was just going to CALL. Now I have to figure out how to pay for an office visit...and what if its bad news? I'm so worried. I get nausea whether I eat or not, and it doesn't matter what I eat--I don't eat spicy foods, don't drink. It comes and goes. I don't know what it could be. With my mind of course, I go straight to worrying that its the worst news possible.

Anyway... if I can get off work early enough today, I'm going to go straight there... I am just scared... if anyone could pray... HOPEFULLY its nothing... but I just really am worried.

I am sending up a prayer for you right now! Perhaps it is something as simple as acid reflux. Keep us posted!

I hope it's nothing serious. Try not to worry. Look at it this way. You know there's something causing the nausea and pain. Your doctor just wants to tell you what he's found and what you need to do about it. Wanting you to come in doesn't necessarily mean that it is something serious, but that's what we always think. One thing I've learned is not to waste time worrying about something until there's something definite to worry about.

You need to know what is going on and how it can be remedied, a phone call can't take the time to do that. You need to talk with your doctor, a phone call just won't do that. A call might just give you results of a single test without really giving you any answers.

I thought that, too, with my DD recently (that if they want you to come to the office, it's bad), but like the PP said that's not always the case.

With my DD, the doctor wanted to discuss medication and things like that. I am so glad he did that in person instead of over the phone. Too many chances of misunderstanding that way.

Please don't worry. Keeping you in prayer. Let us know how it goes.

The doctor wasn't there when I got there!

I showed up this afternoon...no doc. ARGH. They said he will be there tomorrow.

Now I have to figure out how to get through this whole evening by myself and NOT go insane with worry like I did all day today. Whether its good news or bad news or what, I just want an ANSWER about what is wrong. I'm just scared. My husband works til late, I'm too nervous to be driving my car and going anywhere...AAAAAGHHHHH I just want to SCREAM.

Please update us tomorrow. I had looked a little bit ago and was just going to PM you when I saw your update.

had something like that happen with a breast lump. After the biopsy, he asked her to come in with her husband so they could talk. She was scared to death! Her husband took off work and they went in and he said, "Just wanted to let you know everything came out negative..." Like he couldn't tell her that over the phone instead of scaring her half to death?? I know it doesn't help a whole lot, but just another story of when it turned out to be nothing serious...hoping for the best for you!

I had a horrible infection and had to have surgery. I also had to see an infecttious disease Dr. After everything was over I thought I had to go in and talk to him one more time. It seemed totally pointless and I didn't get why we couldn't have just discussed what we did over the phone. Then a friend of mine that works for a Dr. Reminded me that Dr's don't get paid unless you actually come into the office. So if it going to take more than a couple seconds they'll usually have you come in. Try to stay positive because chances are everything is fine : )

I am just really confused as to why they told me to come in to see him today...and when I got there...he wasn't there. Super silly. I was REALLY ready by that point to just get this appointment over with, be it good news or bad news.
Hopefully its just nothing.
Given the fact that I had an eating disorder for 20 years, there's no telling what could be wrong with my stomach.
Perhaps all the stress I have been under caused an ulcer... but then I read that stress doesn't REALLY cause ulcers, that's a myth.
So who knows.
I am going to go in as soon as I wake up in the morning and get this over with.

Do your best to try and not worry. Don't let it ruin your whole weekend. Do something nice for yourself...get your toes done, buy a good book, go to a movie with friends, anything to take your mind off your tummy. I will think good thoughts for you all weekend!

Thanks for all the good thoughts I read a whole book this evening, while watching reruns of House. My husband is going to go with me to the dr's, and wait in the waiting room during my appt just in case I need him. Hopefully its nothing.

I'll say a little prayer that its nothing serious. A lot of things could cause those symptoms, like acid reflux, gall bladder disease, an ulcer, etc.
