Still not real thrilled about the casting. Ranger is ALL wrong, IMO. Not dark or mysterious, at all. Though, I'm warming up to Morelli.

I'll see the movie, but I'm going in with Harry Potter expectations (no comparing it to the book...otherwise, I'll be disappointed).

I agree. Morelli is actually pretty close to what I pictured when I read the books, Ranger, not so much. Debbie Reynolds isn't what I pictured Grandma Mazur as either. Still looks like a fun movie though.

the books are too good! I agree that ranger is all wrong. I think he had long hair in the beginning. Idk about Sherri Shepard as Lula. Grandma Mazur is supposed to be old and sagging. The one i think they got right is Vinny.

PG13???? Really? Considering the average reader is probably an adult....wonder why they didn't make it R? I think casting on Ranger is on the money! But Morelli? not so much. And definitely not Grandma Mazur. Debbie Reynolds looks too "put-together". I don't think I'll see the movie....it'll ruin my mental image of the books!

I just finished re-reading the book, and that was one of the things I'd forgotten, but they talk about his hair slicked back into a pony tail. He's also not quite as dark and mysterious in the first one as he is later. I think our perception is of the later Ranger. After re-reading it, I think this guy may be OK.. maybe he can "grow" into the park like Ranger grew throughout the books..

Heigl as Stephanie - Not so sure she fits the image I had. I can let the Ranger actor go, but I see a more polished Morelli. I agree with LM Teacher that Debbie Reynolds (tho I love her) is too put together for Grandma Mazur. I'm thinking someone like Rhea Perlman. Anyway, I'm sure I'll love the movie even tho it won't be as good as the book

Sandra Bullock should have been Stephanie Plum and Betty White as grandma!

But I think Sandra Bullock would have been better. I guess she's too old now? I also really wanted Betty White instead of Debbie Reynolds. Who knows, it might be funny though. I haven't read the book for years and will have to do that before January.

Thank you for posting the trailer!!! I was sooo excited to see it!

I too, don't want to compare it to the book. I'm just going to laugh at the movie and have a good time trying not to think of the book.

As for Ranger...he does look too clean cut. And Morelli...doesn't look clean cut enough. But that's just my opinion.

I don't think you would find anyone who wouldn't say Betty White fits Grandma Mazur's character!

Before I started listening to the audiobook versions of the later books, I always heard Betty White's voice in my head when I would read Grandma Mazur dialog.

I pictured Morelli more of a Patrick Dempsey type. I can't wait to see the movie!

You're welcome jymnest07! I do think that Ranger looks a little too clean cut and not edgy enough but he is smokin'! Morelli doesn't look as clean cut but remember in the first book, he is on the run and gets scarier as time passes. At the end of the book, he comes back to see Stephanie and he is all cleaned up and looking fine I always pictured Grandma Mazur as the little old lady on The Golden Girls. I think her name was Sophia. Unfortunately, she passed away but that's who I pictured when I read the books. Sandra Bullock is in her mid 40's now but would've been good had they made the movie 10 years ago. I'm actually surprised at how much I liked the trailer with Katherine Heigl in it.

I am excited to see it and hope it is as good as the trailer makes it look.

I agree that Morelli doesn't look the part and neither does Ranger. I will have to see the movie though...I won't be able to resist.

I love the idea of Queen Latifah as Lula...she would have been good, perfect attitude. Sherri Shepard might be ok though.
