Florida Vacation Suggestions

We are considering a family vacation to Florida this summer with our three kids aged 9-16. We've never been there so we are completely clueless! We're on a fairly tight budget, but we do want to have fun and stay at a decent place. We do not feel a need to go to southern Florida. Any suggestions?

St. Augustine is a great place to visit! It's such a historic city plus there's the beach

which is Brevard county...Melbourne Beach/Cocoa Beach. If your kids want to try surfing, etc. You could stay somewhere on the beach. Just a little over an hour to Disney, Universal, etc. in Orlando.

I'm from the Northwest part of Florida in Destin. The beaches are sugar white and the water is emerald green. This is where I would suggest.

Oh my goodness Florida is one of my favorite places and all the previous suggestions are great ones. I've also enjoyed Daytona (you can drive on the beaches and they're wonderful and it makes it easier to access the beaches so that you don't have to be right on the beach itself). Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is also fabulous and we enjoyed the Keys too. Let me know if you need more specific suggestions, I could go on forever!

Thank you for the suggestions! We mainly hope to relax near the beach, but we are hoping to do/see some other fun things while there. Keep the ideas coming!!!

I love the Keys. We just got back and we went snorkling, deep sea fishing, alligator airboat and to Animial Kingdom. We had a great time with our 13 and 19 year old, both girls loved it.

I live in Daytona. Our beach is beautiful and you can drive on it! We are an hour from St. Augustine, an hour from Orlando and all it's theme parks, an hour from the Kennedy Space Center and 2 1/2 hours from Tampa/St. Pete (Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay Rays, etc.)!
