I am so flippin' tired.

Yesterday, we finished up the kids' rooms and this morning (with the help of a friend) moved all the furniture out of our bedroom. Then we pulled up the carpet + pad* and the floor moulding and took it all to the dumpster at my school.

Then we pried up all the tack strips and cement nails. Cleaned the ceiling + walls + floor. My husband is currently painting the ceiling. Tomorrow we paint the walls. While that dries, we will start installing the flooring + baseboards.

*Carpet is nasty. Blech. As Scarlett is my witness, I will never pull up another tack strip again.

I spend a couple hours each morning sifting and moving 38748758576573892 metric ton of lava rock to make way for the cement contractor. After that, it is just too hot for manual labor outside. I'll get it done...eventually.

And this is what we are painting both rooms. It's called Cuddle, which I think is fun for a bedroom, lol.

Zia, I love that archway in the pic. It's so unique!

Your house will be perfect after all your hard work. You will also have some great memories of both you and your husband doing the work together, that makes it even more special!

We have 3 arches. They were definitely a selling point for me. I don't like right angles. My husband says it is because I'm curvy.

I'd give just about anything for a front door like this, but my husband says that's a major undertaking and to forget about it. So I guess I'm stuck with a stupid, rectangular door.

Those are my FAVORITE kinds of doors! I'm always sooooo envious of houses with them when I see them! You guys are working so hard!

We've been in our house for 3 years. Every room needed to be renovated. All three bedrooms are done, the kitchen is almost done (trim, backsplash, and flooring is all that's left), the front porch is done, and the back porch is almost done. We've redone the boiler, switched from oil heat to propane, and redid most of the electrical work too! We have nearly 6 acres of land that is super overgrown and needs quite a bit of work. We've taken down 8 dead trees, put in a pool and swingset, and fixed up our rental (also on the property) enough that someone can live there but it still needs work. We've had 2 babies in the 3 years we've been here. It is a lot of work and so, so HARD. We still have a lot to do but when I type it all out, it's hard to believe how much we've already done!

I keep reminding myself of how happy I will be when we can finally come home from work and just hang out without that burden of "I should be doing something productive" having over our heads! Good luck to you!! It will be amazing!

Wow, Socks, y'all put us to shame! We have done next to nothing to this house for the 16 years we've been here because I was too busy raising babies. Kudos to you! My kids don't even live here right now, lol.

I love remodeling stories and can't wait to see the end results. Perhaps one Friday Photo thread should be devoted to remodeling before and after. Good luck everyone with your summer projects. I'm currently working on the three bedrooms upstairs . They have been treated like storage areas and I have cleaned out and bought a few pieces of furniture. It is looking more like a sleeping area now up there and my granddaughter has her special bed
