My mom fell Wednesday. It's kind of funny...now

So Wednesday night Aik and I go over to have dinner with my parents and check on my dad.

I'm in the kitchen hooking up the DVD player my mom decides she HAS to have because she misses watching DVD's and I hear a loud thud. I run into the family room and she's on the floor with Aikman standing next to her looking all kinds of guilty and upset.

She fell over Aikman because he was standing too close to her and she didn't see him.

She's on the floor and she's telling us she's fine. She hands me her M and M's she's holding because, priorities, assures us it's not his fault (it is) turns around to Aik and hugs him and tells him it isn't his fault (it is) and that he's a good boy (he isn't).

She stands up and proudly announces that she's ok because of all the exercise she's getting in physical therapy. Then she asks for her M and M's back. Because again, priorities. She sits down, eats her M and M's and hugs Aikman. Oh, then she hugs me and tells me she's really ok.

I should add that 20 minutes earlier she was telling me she kept tripping over the carpet in front of the sink and I insisted she get a new one because they had used up all their "We had an incident" phone calls. This is karma.

that she is okay. That's kind of what happened to me two years ago when I fell over a student, only she was crouched behind me and I wasn't ok. It really isn't the dog's fault, just as it wasn't the student's fault. It was an accident.

I do love your mom's M and M's priority though.

But seriously glad she's ok. Karma often isn't nice.

Amiga, I totally thought of you as she was handing me her M and M's and then asking for them back.

Thanks for understanding I wasnít ignoring her fall. As you know, Iíve had more than my share of falls and my philosophy mirrors your momís: I hope to keep getting back up to eat M&Ms.

I'm glad she's okay (and that she saved the M&Ms)! My dog did that to me once, too. Ouch!

Great retelling of this story! But youch!! I have fallen over my dog before. She likes to be *right there.* And I don't usually have M&Ms in my hand. (Maybe Reese's Pieces...)

Your mom definitely needs a new carpet in front of the sink if she's tripping on it. That actually worries me!! Tell her I'm worried about her tripping and make sure she gets a new one.

She already got the new carpet. It's one of those padded ones with the silicone. I wasn't messing around with it and she knew it.

Yeah, we're very lucky it was funny and not serious. My parents have had WAY too many falls lately. And, if she had hurt herself seriously on Aikman I'm not sure my dad would have let him back in the house. He's already not a fan.

I'm glad your mom is okay and didn't really get hurt. Glad too that Aik didn't get a hold of M&Ms and have a feast.

So glad she is okay and that she didn't spill the M & Ms, that would have been worse especially is Aikman ate them.
