Need ideas: (almost) 4YO GS

I'll be flying out to visit my 2 GSs in about 3 weeks. I want to pack some items in my suitcase to do with my almost 4 YO GS.

I already send him plenty of books and stickers in the mail.

So looking more for Science/STEM activities that we can do together and that will get him thinking/wondering. He lives in CA, so there will be plenty of outdoor walking time, etc. to explore together. Looking for things at the house to do together.

(I'll never forget last time I visited him and we were playing together, the lightbulb went off regarding land animals vs. ocean animals and the fact that ocean animals need water to survive. He was ecstatic and excitedly ran off to tell mom/dad. It's all he talked about the rest of my visit. So cool to know that I was the one who lit that particular light bulb).

Anyway, ideas appreciated! TIA!

I love this sight. Maybe the two of you can do some of these. Have fun with your little scientist.

Joseph Cornell has written several books about sharing nature with children. The book gives you ideas for nature activities. See if your library has a copy or two. They are great fun and teach a real love of nature.

My 3 year old granddaughter loves her binoculars. For indoors she likes to paint, do puzzles and play simple board games that she can win. I’m sure he has LEGO blocks which you could add to.

We took some seasonal craft kits with us to Germany. We had fund doing the little activities with them. Michael's and Hobby Lobby have ones for fall/Thanksgiving. Other than the glue everything was ready. It made a good diversion one evening as DD&SIL was going out to an adult party.
