Reading Mini Lessons

Hello everyone,
My district is moving to implement TC reader's workshop next year. We already were doing Daily 5, but they no longer want us to use listening or word work during our literacy time. We were told this was more with TC ideas and that they expect to see us using reading mini lessons everyday. I am looking for either different ideas for these (no more than 10 min.) lessons, or if anyone has mini lessons they might share. I am hoping to gather a large group of lessons over the summer so that I am not feeling stressed or pressured at the beginning of the year. Thank you for any help you can offer.

I don't know what grade you teach, but you might want to check out Beth Newingham. She is a 3rd grade teacher, and she has a lot of great resources posted on her site.

Sorry I don't really have any lessons to share. I'm going to try doing mini lessons this year too, so I'm also new to this. I would love for others to share their lessons!

I do have a few handouts I made that I'm going to attempt to use for mini lessons that I would be willing to share. I've attached an example. Let me know if you would like to see the others.

Here is an example of something I got off of Beth's site.

They have sample mini-lessons for a variety of grade levels and units of study. They are similar to the TC lessons.

I just got home from a GR class at Leslie University. It was great! I have also read the Daily 5 this year. My goals are to use the D5 and teach minilessons, so I love that this site has a concise list to begin the year with, as I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all this new knowledge!

It sure can be overwhelming! Don't give up though...I have been using the TC model with a little of this and a little of that and it works!

Sorry this is so late, but have you checked out Lina Hoyt's Interactive Read Aloud Books! They give you a mentor text to read and then the mini lesson to go with it....it sounds "fluffy" but it is excellent! She has different books by grade level! Hope this helps!

jumpinjack...

I just found this site (and love it!), but wonder if you happen to know if the lessons are still found on the TC site?
I have tried to look for them but cannot find them.

Do you have a direct link??

Thanks so much!!

Are you implementing this with no training? We had a week long training with TC instructors and they come twice a year for additional training. Plus, we got their binder of suggested mini lessons.we still had to write a years worth of lesson plans, but the binder pointed you in the right direction.
