Ok, it is -46 this morning! Can you believe that!

Half of my students did not come to class today as the buses were not running. One of my kiddos did not hear that the buses were not running so she waited outside. A stranger told the kids at the bus stop to go home and call parents. Cannot believe she even waited outside for a few minutes!!! Poor kid!

Getting all our catch up work done and its very quiet!

I hope the -46 is Celsius. We are at -27 Fahrenheit right now. The real feel is -60. No school. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder windchill temps.

We are in Saskatchewan! We never have a snow day! Ever!

I wish!

It is -46 Celsius but that is VERY similar to Fahrenheit at his point.

This morning on the radio it said we were colder than the North Pole...like we should be excited about that!

Interesting fact: -40 C = -40 F. So probably not much difference.

It is completely beyond my state of comprehension to imagine (-46). I have lived my entire life on the central coast of California. In my 60+ years we have dipped into the (-) only a handful of times. About 15 years ago we hit (-6) but that was for a few hours one day. For fear of "hatred", I won't tell you what our temperature is supposed to be today. Be careful!!!!

It's 3 degrees, feels like -23. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be -15. They've already called school for tomorrow and Thursday. I have 6 kids gone. Our school is a ghost town. We're not doing anything new. It's also very quiet here.

Tomorrow will be just as cold!!! I am predicting our buses will not run.

Is it wrong if I bake brownies for my kids that can make it too school? Warm brownies, cold milk, catch up day with a fireplace screensaver going on my smart board. That just might be my day tomorrow!

Iíll take the cold weather over fires, earthquakes, floods, no water, high cost of living, landslides, etc. the temperature does not make up for all that.

I totally agree with you!

I live in an area that does not get floods, earthquakes, landslides or any real natural disasters. Honestly, the cold is about as bad as we get.

I grew up in Chicago but cannot imagine those temps now. I'm very spoiled right now with our high of 72. I know we pay for it in the summer but honestly, 110 is better than -46.

Try to stay warm everyone.

You win, TeachingSarah! We are supposed to have a wind chill of -15 to -25 tomorrow morning at bus time. School is still to be in session. My district and several surrounding have sent reminders to dress in layers and come to school. We'll see...

I can't imagine an actual temp of -46. Our windchill will be around there tomorrow, but not the actual temp. Things are closing down left and right.

-46 is really gross....there are no words! Starting your vehicle when its frozen solid sucks!

You have NO idea how glad I am we did our road trip to California over Christmas! It makes surviving winter so much better!

How can the kids safely wait for a bus when it is - 40 something? They could freeze to death. Horrible. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Right now in the Daytona Beach area (about 5:25 PM), we are at 46 ABOVE 0! Now you can laugh!
