Baby Jai has been misbehaving during his Zoom classes

And everybody is pretty excited about it!

During OT/Vision Therapy today, he was supposed to be looking at and tracking a toy his mom was holding against a black cardboard screen. The iPad with the therapists was behind the screen, where his mom could see it, but he couldn't.

He kept on moving one side of the screen aside with his hand to peek (and smile) at the therapists, basically playing peek-a-boo with them.

This is a huge deal because he has spasticity in his arms and little fine motor dexterity in his hands. He doesn't have a lot of control over where his arms are, or what his hands are doing, usually. He was being very purposeful in moving the screen so he could interact with the therapists, and did it several times.

Also it shows that he "gets" object permanence, and of course, he's sooooo social. He actually smirks at the therapists as if to say, "I would rather play a game with you than do this boring stuff you have planned."

He has actually been improving a lot with the visual stuff the therapy is supposed to address, tracking objects from midline to the left. (He tends to turn to the right, due to neurological issues, and his right eye is stronger than the left one).

We have really seen a lot of growth and development recently. And in other news, his mama was able to push the early intervention team to include a speech therapist, since he is trying so hard to talk (but only has 2 vowels and 2 consonants, so he isn't getting very far). They kept telling her that they couldn't provide any more hours for him, but she got them to include a speech pathologist to work with him during some of his OT time.

It's so good to hear that Jai is developing his charm skills and playing peek with his therapists. Nothing like progress!
