I survived COVID in ICU and intensive care

I am happy to be home recovering on oxygen (but just at night) yipppee. Feeling Great

It began with Bronchitis and in order to get meds I had to be seen in person in what was probably a petri dish at my allergist office. I had already tested negative twice for COVID

Two days later went to local mountain hospital and CT scan showed moderate to severe COVID pneumonia in both lungs. Transferred to a COVID trauma unit in Los Angeles county. The pain was excruciating in my lungs. (unusual) My vitals, heart and everything else were always normal and in great shape. I perplexed the specialists.

Received excellent care and all treatments available. Had a CDC infectious disease county specialist and many other specialist assist me. The 3 day plan was not effective enough so I continued on 5 day plan. Was released to provider hospital and went home yesterday .

Even though I have Blue Cross they follow medicare guidelines for oxygen. I did not qualify because my stats were too good but it took everyone fighting to send me home with it. COVID plays by no rules.

I can say I am much more savvy to this COVID situation and every time I hear COVID on the news I turn it off.

Isolation is awful and I'm living in my room by myself. My poor family has to isolate again too in the other part of the house . They have all tested negative.

I have missed my pt friends . I guess I have to thank the big city of LA for their help!

Thanks for sharing your story. It is always interesting to me to hear real peopleís stories, compared to how it is publicized. Iím glad you were able to get good treatments, that is encouraging.

Your post encourages me to continue limiting my exposure to people. Praying you continue to recover and your family stays healthy. ( ( ( hugs ) ) ) from a distance.

Thanks for sharing your story. I have not known anyone yet that ended up hospitalized, but see it all the time on TV. Good to know how it was handled with success. It also encourages me to limit my exposure to others...

COVID is no joke. The unpredictability of each case is scary to me. I take the warnings very seriously, and wear my mask. Wishing you continued progress with your recovery.

Hopefully, your story convinces people to wear a mask and socially distance. It sounds like you received excellent care. My brother was exposed to someone with COVID, then came to our house. I did not go near him but my DH was in a car with him for an hour. We are both being tested today...just in case. We both feel fine. No fever or any other symptoms.

As PPs have said, COVID is real. It is also very unpredictable, and there are still so many things about it that are unknown. Thank you for posting your harrowing experience, and I hope you will recover completely. I know several people who have had COVID, and one of them still has to relearn how to walk and feed himself months later. It frustrates me that there are still people who think COVID is a hoax.

What a terrible ordeal! Thatís great news to hear that youíre on the recovery. Pneumonia in itself preceded by bronchitis is always terrible but then to get Covid on top of all of that!
