My mom came to visit for the weekend. I hadn't seen her since my dad's funeral in early September. She seems to be doing well. Zoey, who was really more my Dad's girl, made herself right at home :-) My cat, Obie, however clawed her way inside a box spring to hide for 2 days!

Swift got his harness this week. Heís not sure what to make of it especially when he realized people wonít pet him when heís wearing it.

He loves the pets (and the attention).

Whereís Waldo?

Waldo the opossum, that is. Apparently, he’s been living in our back yard for a while. Winston has been going crazy, trying to get under the deck and up in the apple tree. We found him last night, contentedly munching on apples. Not a good picture, but if you look closely you can see him hiding in the branches.

I found some boxes of old photos at Mom's house, and I've had a great time going through them.

Bottom left is my grandpa, and his two brothers are above him. My uncles are above the big photo. The big photo is my grandmother, and she looks so much like my mom. There is another photo of my mom when she was about 8, and she looks like two of my cousins and their daughters. That gene pool is strong.

Unfortunately we are losing an Ash tree to the emerald ash beetle....However we have a pair of pilated woodpeckers that are having a feast...

Photo collage from my last hike in the park a few weeks ago. The trail is now covered in 4 inches of snow.

Do I win a prize if I have a pet and a grandbaby in the same picture? The very grouchy and elderly Siamese kitty (who dd was very frightened would not accept a new baby in the family) Polly loves to visit Jai's high chair. Part of his PT is petting the kitty.

It's getting too cold to sit on the bench and watch the lake. By the way, the lake is usually way up over the "beach" area shown in the picture. We're suffering from a drought this year, plus there is a dam at the end of the lake and they usually drop the water level just a bit every fall.

Grandbaby and pet together definitely gets bonus points! I was walking in the beautiful sunshine when I realized the weather was about to change.

The university near me has been setting up half a dozen of these massive tents for their outdoor classes. Although many students are back on campus, they have been taking mostly online classes. It's good thing we have year-round good weather. This might not work in other places.

Great photos, everyone.

momteach310 - I'm so sorry you have emerald ash borer, but pileated woodpeckers are amazing birds, aren't they?

suzyteach - the waterfall is spectacular!
