Lost phone dilemma

I was getting ready to go to bed and wanted to plug my phone in. I thought it was on the table by my recliner but I couldnít find it. I pushed the button on my Apple Watch and it chimed behind me, so I headed to the kitchen. When I got there, it was nowhere to be found. I pushed the button again and it sounded like it was coming from where I had just come from. This went on for a while. I thought , ďI must be losing the ability to discern the direction of sounds. About that time, I realized the phone was in my back pocket. Boy, do I feel stupid.

LMAO! I love it, because it makes me feel better about all the times I have completely panicked about losing my phone only to realize I was using it at the moment for a phone call

I'm sorry to say that I laughed out loud--partly because it's very funny in a slapstick comedy kind of way but mostly because I'm reassured that I'm not the only one to do things like that.

Thank you for the laughs! The other day I was looking for mine as I got in the car to leave. Looked where I usually put it in the car, felt my back pocket, my coat pockets, then realized it was in my hand under the gloves was holding!!

The lost phone in my pocket, or on the car seat next to me etc is the story of my life. It does not help the body is black, so when it's face down it's basically camouflaged.

I have a HORRIBLE time remembering where I set certain things down. It's always wallet, car keys, eye glasses and debit card (don't ask lol!) My one time therapist said, it's because when I'm handling those items, I usually doing something else. The brain can only pay attention to so much at the moment in time. Where I put my debit card never gets into memory, because I'm also doing, a, b,c.

It's so bad that if a debit card goes missing, I don't panic. It's now up to a 4 day wait. I check my bank app in the mean time.
The cards are always squirrelled away some place odd at home or in my car.

I don't have problems remembering where I place other items. I can remember names, faces, situations, landmarks from 20 years ago, how to get to a location without a map just driving there once. Myhusband struggles with all that, but he always, ALWAYS knows where is car keys, wallet and phone are.

The brain is a weird beast.

(yes, I know I should immediately put the phone/debit card/keys right back to their cubbies, but I got issues! I've been trying for 51 years.)

The other day I was out doing errands. Got to my parking space and gathered everything up. My mask has gotten all tangled up so I out everything down in my lap. Fix that and pick up things to go and there's no phone. Did I leave it at previous stop, did it fall on the floor or between the seats. Nope. Very carefully I get up in case it's in my lap and didn't feel it. Nope. It's in the bag for my return! . If I wanted it to be in that bag I would have missed and dropped it!

I truly snorted when I got to the end of your story!!! Thank you for your honesty in sharing it. And I could see myself doing this for a good 10 minutes before figuring it out.

That would be something I would do. I like your smart watch feature and wonder if mine has the same. I'm going to try it in a bit just in case I misplace my phone

Haha!

I have "lost" my phone twice on the top of my car. Both times, I was digging around under and in my car because I could hear it, but couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from. Looks like you're in good company!

Oh dear!

Iím the same as Grace. Iíve been in a panic searching for my phone more than once only to realize I was holding it. Sometimes, I wasnít even on a phone call.

I blame it on having too much going on. (Thatís my story and Iím sticking to it.)

I needed that laugh. Yes, I have looked for the phone while I was talking on it.

I love it. I am constantly amazed at my ability to be dumb. I spent several minutes while talking to my Dad on the phone search the house and my car for the phone.

Thanks for making me feel a little better (your phone at least was hiding in your pocket, I was holding mine, talking on it, and having a more difficult time searching for my phone because I had the phone in my hand!!)
