Clip to ScrapBook #1

This will be my first year teaching Special Education in a Inclusion type setting. We will be having Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night in about a week and I was wondering about a couple of things... What should I have available to my the parents/students that show up? So far I have a welcome letter, and I am going to create a contact sheet for the parents to fill out that I can later put into the IEP Binders of the students. Is there anything else I should have available? I will be teaching in the inclusion setting, so should I be in the room with the the Gen. Ed teacher or should I have the parents/students walk over to my office to speak with them?

Thanks!!!

*Oh, I teach 7th grade Sped.

You might want to have some literature available on reading and math strategies, helpful parent tips, and be able to answer curriculum questions if asked.

I would be in the inclusion classroom, not in your office.

You might want to speak with the inclusion teachers so you are on the same page. I agree you should be in the inclusion classroom to show a unified front/teamwork

I always hung out around the rooms where my kids were in. If you have most kids with ELA goals then hang out in that room/s. I usually have some parents that want to see my room and I either tell them I'll be there 30 min before the night ends or take a walk now.
