Cleaning “style”
Old 06-07-2019, 05:45 AM

I generally do all my house cleaning in one day, but have heard that some people do a room a day or a task a day (one day vacuuming, one day dusting, etc.). What is your “style”?

BTW- I choose to do it all on one day to get it over with and then not really do much else, (except the kitchen) for the rest of the week.

tends to be, I will get to it when I get to it!

Normally, I go a head and get it all done. It may take me 2 days for a really good clean though.

Apparently my current style is “procrastinate and avoid.” At the end of school I usually need to do a deep clean which takes a couple of days then I do a little each day. I really do need to spend today and tomorrow getting back on track. We’ll see .....

Cleaning style

Until I get my cleaning service back, I tend to break it up. Both bathrooms on one day. Dust, vacuum and whatever else on another day. Kitchen tends to be ongoing.

I do some things every day, like sweep, clean counters with a wipe, and one load of laundry. Then I do one bigger task every day. Like mopping, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, are all different days.

I couldn’t do that when I was teaching though. Then I did it all in one big chunk, and a lot got delayed by weeks at a time when things were hectic

I do it all in one day. I get rolling and don’t stop until I’m done. During the school year I try to do it on an evening (Thursday or Friday) so I don’t have to do it on the weekend.

I like to get it all done at once, too. However, lately I do what absolutely needs done, and nothing else.

All at once. I’m easily distracted and one thing leads to another. I work better if I do all toilets, all sinks, all dusting. Just 1 room being clean wouldn’t work for me.

However, when I retired at 65 (having always done all the cleaning), I gave myself the gift of Merry Maids. You can’t imagine how happy they make me.

House cleaning

DH does upstairs, I do down. We go wild once every two weeks and i’ll Wipe down bathrooms and swifter floors in between. We had a house cleaner, but we do a better job. (Saved $ is for dining out!). I kind of hate cleaning day, but it always feels great to get it done.

Every other Thursday, Katie cleans for me.

This is a gift I give myself.

Ummm...I wait until my house is so disgusting in afraid the ASPCA will take the dogs and I’m grossed out by it myself and then I frantically clean it all at once.

My mom is fairly certain, that despite all evidence, I am not her spawn.

We have our own cleaning schedule for rooms that we all use, breaking the cleaning down to scheduled days so our weekends are free for family activities. We all have our assigned chores. We want to teach our children that we (our whole family) are the ones responsible for keeping our home environment clean. Chores are just a given thing and everything runs smoothly. Best of all the house is always clean enough for drop in guests, outside cleaning help is not needed. "We've got this under control!"

This would be me right now. I come in, look how bad it is, and then find something else to do.

At normal times of year I'm a once a week, get it all done kind of person.

I clean all on the same day. I wouldn't like doing the something every day thing because then you never have a totally clean house. And I wouldn't want to clean every day either! During the school year I try to do Sundays. I often end up doing every other week, but on the "off" week I'll do laundry, wipe down the counter tops, and vacuum the carpet- the things that make the most visible difference.

During the summer it really has to be every week because my apartment is so much dirtier with me actually being in it most of the time . I've been doing Mondays because I don't tend to have other plans on those days.

Sometimes I just get it all done in one swoop, but most often I'll clean a room, watch a TV show or waste time online, clean another room, etc. If I'm really feeling lazy I'll just watch TV and do one thing each commercial break.

I *used* to get up early on Saturday morning and clean the whole house. Then I had the rest of the weekend to enjoy however I wished.

Now, with DS? It’s impossible. If I’m in one room cleaning, he’s in another room un-cleaning. Then there are the toys that I absolutely cannot touch while he is awake. He lets me touch more than DH though. I’ll come home and there will be piles of toys everywhere and my eye starts twitching.

This is my current housekeeping “style:”

I don’t have a style. Sometimes I do it all. Sometimes I do one room. Sometimes I do one task in every room. During the summer I always do a deep clean of a room at a time.

I do all of my housecleaning in one day. If I'm not being poky, it probably takes me about three hours to clean the bathrooms, dust, vacuum, and scrub the floors. Plus, I'm doing laundry while cleaning. Sometimes DH will help with dusting if he's not outside doing yard work. My kids are pretty much worthless! Even though they are 17 and 22, they don't help enough. I have to nag and yell to get any work out of them.

I sweep and mop all rooms once a week, usually Saturday afternoon. DH does the bathroom and stovetop when it starts to get disgusting. We clean tabletops when they start to get disgusting too. Lol

Usually during the summer I do deep cleaning. Also during the summer I tend to do all of one thing daily. Like all dusting in one day or all floors another day. During the school year I have to do all cleaning on Saturday and Sunday. At least what I can get done. I really only do the kitchen and laundry during the week.
