Do you donate to political figures/causes?

This is not a political debate, but Iím just wondering if you donate to political campaigns or causes? In the last year, Iíve donated to a couple of people running for office and itís the first time in my life Iíve done that. As I said, donít post who or what, but have you done this? If so, is it something youíve always done or something recent.

Dh has done this once or twice- small amounts. I have not.

But I have "advertised" for a particular candidate for local office before (e.g., wear a t-shirt, put a sign up).

I donate time and money to local, county and state candidates. My DH is in an elected office so we are pretty involved in the process.

Not yet. I guess I haven't felt so strongly about a political candidate that I wanted to support them financially (and felt that they needed the financial support). I prefer to give to charities or other organizations.

The closest I've come to that is helping people get registered to vote.

Last year, I donated the first time to a candidate running for local office- state house representative for my district. We were trying to flip the seat (and did). I felt like someone in a small race like that would benefit more from my help. I feel like people running for "big" positions (senators, presidential candidates, etc.) don't need my money. There's a lot of "big money" already in politics.

When I was in the union as working teacher, I did voluntarily have money deducted for a PAC that supported union-leaning candidates. I have donated to political candidates as an individual, but rarely.

I have donated but hate when that means constant mailings and phone call follow ups!
We have put yard signs out too.
Recently I was cleaning out some photos and keepsakes and ran across a McGovern bumper sickerGuess that dates me a little...

Linda! I had a blue & white daisy McGovern bumper sticker on my VW bug. I wasnít even old enough to voteóbut I did door-to-door canvassing. (My parents were staunch Republicans and Iím sure seeing my car parked out front every day did not please them.)

I hate the harassment after donating, too. Just last week I unsubscribed from a 2020 candidate Iíve donated to because I donít want DAILY pleas for more.

I come from an active political family. Yes, I donate to local, state and national candidates. I put up yard signs, house campaign workers, walk in parades, make phone calls and go to rallies.

No, but we recently had an election for a new sheriff in our county. We let a candidate put up a sign in our yard.

Political donations

I've donated time (mostly phone calling) and modest amounts of money many times over the years to local, regional, amd national candidates. But lately the constant online appeals have left me feeling burnt out. I'm much more reluctant now.

We donate time and put up signs. I have donated money in the past but they made some stupid decisions so I am only supporting charities now.

For the first time in my life I donated money to a candidate in the 2016 election. In addition, I worked for his campaign till he was eliminated in the primary. I plan to do so again, for the same person!

I donate $. I also am on two texting teams: one for a political environmental organization and another for a presidential candidate. I run a local FB page for this candidate and traveled to four states knocking on doors and talking to people directly. We even drove to Philadelphia to "express our feelings" about the behavior of a national political group during the 2016 primary. I attend marches and protests that reflect my values. Fun fact: My husband built lighted signs that we take to busy intersections and overpasses to share messages. I became political about ten years ago and it has become a passion. I feel so fortunate to have met so many incredible friends through activism.

My sis and BIL have both run for county office. BIL won his seat but sis was unsuccessful. I donated time and money. I also watched her kids while she and BIL went to campaign events.

It was the first and second times (whole campaigns.) I have not done it again. BIL has completed a third term as the incumbent.

I've put up yard signs. During the mid-terms, I donated to several politicians, several not even in my state, but I believed in them. I donate to causes, too.

I had never done this before. I felt very good after making my donations - you know, like putting my money where my mouth is
