Welcome Celebration for Newbies?

All right, dear friends. It's getting to be that time of year again. Shall we host a Welcome-to-Retirement Happy Hour here for all the newbies? When are people finished with school? End of first week of June? Sign in and let us know you'll be with us.

I've got a pitcher of sangria in mind. Some lemons and limes and oranges from our trees out in the back garden would be a welcome addition to that frosty pitcher. I'll even stick it in the freezer before adding the sangria fixins....

Who will join us and when?

I'm retiring June 12.

I hope I'm retiring June 12.

My private school interviewed two people for my position yesterday and neither seems like a good fit. I hope they advertise more and have a bigger pool of candidates. I'm afraid that if they don't hire a good fit, they might be calling me in January to come back. My DH says I overthink things.

5 more days

I want to have everything cleaned out and walk out the last day with just my purse. Iím still feeling like it is just summer vacation, so maybe reality will hit come August.

...May 31st is my last ever teaching day!
Scary...definitely scary...but exciting at the same time!
Love the sangria idea - I'll match it with guacamole and chips! (I don't need a cabana boy - my husband fills that role delightfully (I know, TMI (grin!))

Anansi is bringing guacamole, so I'd better bring chips and margaritas. Oh - maybe we can find a vendor to bring in street tacos! MMMMM!

I am retiring later than most, with June 18th as my last day with kids. I don't mind celebrating early at all. Ever since I made the decision a few months ago, I've been feeling already retired and as free as a bird. I'm absolutely loving these last weeks with the kids! Since I'm more relaxed, they're more relaxed! It's the perfect way to go!!!!

Shall we try to gather together to celebrate? May have some sunny patches in the back garden and on the deck. You should be able to see the Pacific, unless our "June gloom" lingers through the morning.

Let the wild rumpus begin! Congratulations to all you newbies. Delighted to have you aboard!
