My admin has been going around with contracts this week. My job next year is changing in a big way (basically doing 3 full time jobs at the same time). Anyway, I get my contract and my pay is LESS (a couple thousand less). I told my admin I couldnít sign it if I would be making less. She didnít understand my side. I finally did get her to at least meet me with my current salary but I feel so disrespected. My admin and I have been close for 3 years. Something happened this year that changed everything and I donít know what it was. I will sign the contract, because I donít have another job lined up. But as soon as I find something, most likely out of education, I will give my 30 days.

Round of applause for you! I donít know the backstory but that honestly sounds like utter BS. Iíve come to the realization that teachers will continue to be treated like $%*! as long as we continue to allow it and donít stand up for ourselves in a huge way. We are definitely making some progress nationwide! <3

You must be in a private school or charter school because in public schools weíre all just placed on a scale and admin canít mess with salaries.

Anyway, Iím glad you stood up for yourself.

can your adminstrator do that? Don't you have a salary scale or steps that he/she needs to adhere to?

Admin starts with low balling you on purpose knowing that you may settle for your current salary. Meanwhile the cost of living rises 3% I'd be ticked and feel very manipulated .Get out of there as soon as you can.

That "admin is my friend" feeling never lasts for most of us ...don't ever fall for that.

I'm so sorry OP... that is disgusting and so disrespectful to you as a professional. Anna is probably right that it was a low-balling manipulation.

When I hear stories like this, I thank God I teach in a state with strong teacher unions!

Get outta there! They don't deserve you!

I gather this is not a public school where no one can mess with your pay.

I am also surprised no one discussed salary before offering/handing all these jobs to you. I would have asked for more pay because it sounds like you will be doing more work.

What? Your administrator can reduce your pay for no reason and without warning? Yes, I'd be looking for something out of education, too. Or out of state.
