"I'll give you extra credit"

Is it so bad to bribe kids with extra credit to do stuff?
For example, last night was conference night and the after was the AP Fair where we showcase all the AP classes. So I figured it would be in my best interest to ask 2 or 3 students from AP Statistics and AP Calculus (AP classes I teach) to accompany me so the prospective students had someone to get an answer in terms they will understand. At first, none of my students wanted to do it, but then I told them I would give them 10 extra credit points, not that anyone needs it, most of my students have above a 95%.
Also, my district sends out a 20 page math review for semester exams. Over time, it has become the unwritten rule that all math teachers offer 15 extra credit points to students who print out the review and bring it in, so I do not have to kill as many trees.
Thoughts?
