Do teachers normally give the Principal and AP gifts for the holidays?

Thanks

I'm giving my principal a box of chocolate mints from See's.

I never did. If I gave cards, I would have given a card. A gift could be perceived as a bribe or suck up...awkward! Even when I was friends with a principal, I kept a professional distance at work.

Neither school I worked at did. We didn't give them as individuals or through the Sunshine Committee.

Your answers have me rethinking my plan. Maybe I won't gift my principal after all.

I bake bundt cakes for the principal, asst, and secretaries. It's just something I enjoy doing. The recipe is super easy and the cake freezes well. I know the cake never made it to my last a.p's freezer. There were rumors that he would get a big spoon and eat it over the sink. It was my way of thanking them for their support throughout the year. Now I continue just because I like doing it. If I had to deal with the situations you read about on The Vent that would be an entirely different story.

IMO, baked treats are entirely appropriate and appreciated if you just want to spread some holiday cheer.

Sunshine always gave principal a Christmas gift.

I never gave an individual gift as I thought that covered it-- until the year a new principal decided individual notes were too many to write. She posted a list of the gift givers and their individual gifts in the lounge with a general thank you to all the individual givers.

No one, except the principal, was happy with the list. Don't know if it changed anyone's gift giving habit. I know the next year I still didn't give an individual gift.
