What can go in those cups? (test review)

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I found this testing review activity a while back and pinned it. pulled it up to use in the next couple weeks. just read over how the original person used it, and i don't like it (put a test question in, have them answer it).

i like for EVERYONE to see a question, all to solve, even if only one team is "on the spot" for the answer and gets points for it.

so instead i'm going to do my normal "here's the question, every group read and be ready to answer" and the group whose turn it in has to answer--if correct, they get a prize out of the cup! (which will be different than what i usually do of competing and earning points and 1 winning group getting big prize...)

Here are my ideas for prizes:
*little candies--one for each kid in group (my district/school is ok with food)
*scholar dollars
*pencils (short ones??)
*cap erasers

do you have ideas for other small prizes?

--i'm ruling out an extra credit ticket/point because we've been doing a lot of work with standards-based grading and i now see the error of my ways (no "free homework" passes either since i only give spelling practice as homework)

Fun Fact: This original idea was titled "Primary Punch" because the name of the church group was "Primary". i have seen other people on the internet using the activity and still calling it "Primary Punch", thinking that's the name of it! i DO need a clever name for it, though....

I don't know your budget, so here's a few suggestions.

Five minutes of extra recess (after the test!)
Shaped erasers from the dollar store.
Instead of short pencils, put in a coupon for their choice of decorative pencils.
Cheap party favors (either at Dollar Tree or your party supply store)
Balloons.
Stickers

mechanical pencils
I use to put in a coupon where I bought the students a soft pretzel when they were on sale in the school [they were sold every Thursday].
