If you go to target, I'd get the Elmers and not the RoseArt. I bought the 20 cent 2-packs and they were useless. So mushy I could barely press down with them without them going everywhere. The 6 for $1 Elmers packs are the best deal I've seen.

I think I got a 12 pack of Elmer's glue sticks and it was around $3, I think. I've gotten so many deals the past couple of weeks at Target. I bought 10 packs of Crayola crayons--24 count (40 cents), colored pencils--12 count (99 cents), and thin markers--10 count (99 cents).

You peeps probably know, but...

I had to learn the hard way. Being a newish teacher, I always thought I had to buy the megapacks of things, like the crayon box with 60+ colors or colored pencils that come in a pack of 72. But this past year, I found that my kiddos would pretty much only use the basic colors. So at the end of the year, I had tons of colored pencils in unique colors, but never enough of the primary colors.

So, this year, I decided to become a smarter shopper. I bought only packs of primary colors; it meant that I got better deals on my supplies too! You would not believe how much money I've saved, plus I actually I have more in quantity.

As I posted previously, this year i bought crayons that came 24 in a box, which was 40 cents/box, etc. So far I have 10 boxes of colored pencils and thin markers. I say "so far" because I think I will buy a few more boxes. To me, I have no problem dropping down money for colored pencils and markers if I know the kids are going to use them--and I know they will!

I know most of you already know this, but I thought I would just post in case there's a new teacher who's about the make the same mistake I made last year.

If you need more boxes of crayons, K-mart has them for 24 cents and Toys R Us has them 4 for $1. Also, WalMart will match the prices if you have the ad. So get your Target ad and K-Mart or Toys R Us and go to one place unless you are a person who does not wish to give Walmart your money.
