Should I get a keurig?

I'm thinking about getting a keurig to have in my classroom at school. Those of you that own one, what are your thoughts? I hate the coffee in the teachers' lounge!

I would love, love, love to have a Keurig in my classroom! My mom bought us one last year (for home) and it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. I was skeptical about whether or not the coffee would be good- but it's great! Plus I can use it for hot water when I make cocoa or tea ( I don't like the KCup cocoa or tea, so I just do it the traditional way).

Love mine! I got the extra cup/strainer thing that goes inside so I can make my usual brand coffee and don't have to buy the Keurig ready coffee pods. I think you'll enjoy it.

The one reason that I would have a Keurig is for the lack of mess. However, I love my local coffee roaster and would love to keep drinking that brand with the ease and cleanup of the Keurig. How convenient is the cup/strainer, especially for the classroom?

I organized the purchase of one for our staffroom. Took a poll and when all was said and done, it worked out to $11 each for the "buy in" and we all just get our own k cups. It works great. If not, I would have bought one for my own use. I have one at home and love it. Just went to a store with over 200 varieties of k cups and I am in heaven. I think I'll brew up a creme brle now.......

I love being able to come in from recess duty on a cold day and pop in a cappuccino cup. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I use mine for cappuccino, cafe mocha, hot chocolate, and tea. It's great, and the fire marshal has never said anything about it being in my classroom.

I want one so badly. The coffee is delcious. We are not allowed to have any coffee pots in our building, let alone in our own classroom. Fire hazard....I would totally buy one if I could.

we got one for Christmas too. I am opposed to it, much to DH's dismay. You can't recycle the cups, so they just fill up the landfill.

Along with it, we got about 100 cups of teas and coco and coffee. The kids have loved the independence of using it, even when I point out the trash can is full.

Yesterday DH bought me the strainer/reuseable cup. Because we were both drinking extra coffee this morning, it made sense to use the coffee maker.

For those who use the reuseable, how much do you use per cup?

Answer to clean up question

The cup/strainer thing holds only enough coffee grounds for only one cup of coffee. Used grounds easily spill out into the trash. If you have a sink in your room a quick rinse cleans it completely. Easy and not messy.

I very much enjoy ours as well. DH loves the new Starbucks K Cup. I'm a Kahlua fan. I couldn't have one in my class for several reasons. First of all I've been drinking it crazy since vacation so I'm sure I would be drinking way too much at school. Plus, we are not allowed to have appliances.

I bought one for my birthday present to myself. I love it. I have the mini version, as I typically only have 1 cup of coffee a day. It is so quick and convenient.

I have the single cup keurig and I love it. I too am bothered by the waste and the expense of the Kcups so I bought an insert from walmart that is reusable. I buy the Kcups for when I'm really lazy or in a hurry. I put two teaspoons in the reusable Kcup and it makes a great cup of coffee. If you buy the reusable insert make sure you always put the lid on it. I forgot one morning and it made quite a mess!
