Purple kitchen walls

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I just pulled down some 1980's fruit wallpaper from my kitchen. I have green laminate (it was here when I moved in - can't afford to replace) countertops and honey-toned cabinets (original from 1961!). Until we sell our NY house, I can only do small things to update this house.

Has anyone seen purple walls in a kitchen? That color seems to go really well with the counters and the cabinets. My appliances are sort-of white - but not bright white. I just don't want to get too crazy but am willing to take a chance on something different.

Yes, my sister painted her kitchen wall purple and it looked great. I am not bold enough to try something like this, but she is and I loved it.

My kitchen is painted purple. It's a spring crocus color. If you look up "snugglepuss" in paint colors, that would be it. It's got some black in it that keeps it from looking too girly.

It looks nice with the white cabinets, white trim, black countertops and mostly black appliances. (Still have a fridge to go.)

I have "spring leaf green" accents.

I like it, but it's not good for resale.

My walls are the color Purple Grapes from Olympic paints. It's a dark purple on the walls. I have green accent colors all over with my Margarita theme. I have oak cabinets and white appliances. I just wish I had green countertops to match but I can't afford to change them either.

I say go for it. Paint is cheap and easy to change. It's a fun way to make a bold statement and show YOUR personality.

Oh and my bedroom is purple too. Darker though with chocolate brown bedspread and curtains. My favorite color is purple and I wear it all the time so why not live in it too?

I think the purple and green would look great together, but I also agree that when you go to seel that would be the first thing to change because it certainly wouldn't be something that everyone would like.

We bought this house a year ago and haven't changed any paint colors. The kitchen is lilac with sage countertops. We have white appliances, cabinets with beadboard. The hardware (knobs, etc) are a pewter fnish. The sink is an old-fashioned porcelain farm sink. At first, I wanted to change itthe paint color. Now, I find it very soothing!

Mine is purple

My kitchen is purple - light lavender and violet mixed. It is next to a yellow family room. I love it. It is soothing and warm at the same time. None of the rooms in my house are white of any sort. May have to paint in order to sell some day in the future, but for now, I am loving my color-filled home.

An Accent Wall

We decided that the purple was too dark for all of the walls, so we compromised. I did a neutral beige that coordinated with everything and then did a purple (fairly dark) accent wall.

Thanks for the confidence to take a change. As someone said, it's only paint. I LOVE the purple paint and what's surprising is so does my DH. Go figure.
