I was wonder what other third grade teachers might be reading this summer. I'm trying to get inspired to read an interesting professional development book.

The Daily Five. I keep hearing about how well it works, so I finally gave in and bought the book.

What are some good Math resources to read? Is there a Math version of The Daily Five?

From Reading to Math is a great one for applying what you know about effectively teaching reading to math.

Awakened by Angela Watson was also a perfect summer read for clearing out any negative feelings and having your mind ready for a new school year.

The Book Whisperer by Donnalyn Miller. It is an easy read, very practical, you won't want to put it down, and it will make you excited to start the next school year!

Two books...

I started with a list of two books to read, but might have to add a couple more!

1. The Book Whisperer by Donalyn Miller (Excellent... getting me inspired to read more children's books, and more on Reading Workshop) - Focused on independent reading and how to support each child's growth as a life reader, not just a school reader.

2. How's It Going by Carl Anderson - Focused on having writing conferences with young authors during Writers' Workshop.

Just accepted an offer for a third grade position YESTERDAY, and I'm already trying to read all I can!
Teach with your Strengths (based on the StrengthsFinder assessment)
The Leader in Me (since my school is really big into this)
