Another offer!?

I just got another offer this afternoon! The principal is letting me decide and let her know tomorrow. I'm having the hardest time deciding! Going to write them out... Any feedback is welcome.

School A
20 miles from home, morning kindergarten, and I'd have my own classroom. Loved the principal and the other teachers seemed very nice. Pays an extra $100 per month. They're using curricula I'm not familiar with, but could learn.

School B
5 miles from home, afternoon kindergarten,
and I'd share a classroom. Really connected well with the morning K teacher, and liked the principal. The curricula they use are ones I'm experienced in. Also the district I went to for K-12!

Both are similar in demographics, free and reduced lunch, etc.

Which might offer full time employment or a job that will be there next year if you like it?

Would the extra $100/month cover the gas you'd spend driving an extra 30 miles/day? Unless you've got a hybrid or plan to carpool or something, most vehicles would eat most or all of that extra pay. And the extra money was really one of the biggest positives you listed about job A.

For that reason, and because you sound more excited about it in general (and also due to a personal bias against long commutes), I'd go with B.

Congrats either way!

it is great that School B is continuing as not only do you sound excited about it - you will have the opportunity to continue beyond this school year - maybe even with the possibility of full time and your own classroom if numbers increase and they seem to be doing that in kindergarten.

B sounds like the best choice. You are so lucky that you get a choice.

I would pick school b because its closer, you are familiar with the curriculum, you could always sub in the morning, it will continue... and you seem to like it a lot.

By the time you get your extra $100 you would have paid that if not more in gas.

B because

--it is closer and that $100 a month for school A will be eaten in traveling
--you connected with am K teacher
--most importantly it is a continuing position!

You will have the other teacher to use as a possible mentor, someone to set up the classroom with, share classroom items, sharing planning, continuing position and you know how awful traffic is in your area - so five minutes is a sweet commute

BUT - how great you have to choose.

I am so jealous!!!!!!

Please send some of that mojo to me!

School B because it's closer and continuing. It's great that you got along with the other teacher and since it's continuing, you may get your own classroom in the future. Congrats!!!

Ditto B (congrats on the second offer!). I agree with all of the reasons above plus I have spent the bulk of the last 2-3 weeks setting up a empty, lifeless classroom. It may be a blessing this close to the beginning of the year that its shared and perhaps ready to go!

I was going to add my two cents (B) but from your posting date it looks like you maybe already made your decision?

What did you decide?

Definitely B for all the reasons that others listed- plus, as a first year teacher, you will really appreciate that shorter commute! My 45minute/1hr drive each way my first year just really added to my stress level.
