Last night I went to bed and as soon as my head hit the pillow it dawned on me. I forgot to unplug the hot glue gun. Calling the principal is out of the question. It's going to be a long worried sick kinda of weekend until I get back on Monday. Has anyone done this before?

Call someone with access to the building, better to come clean now than after a fire. Mistakes happen, I hope admin would be understanding.

I hate it when that happens! I do agree though that you should call someone and get it taken care of before something bad happens. My glue guns slowly get less hot when I leave them on too long, but they are cheapos.

Wow, in my district we're not allowed to use a glue gun in our classroom for this and other safety reasons. Hope everything turns out all right.

If you haven't already gone in to unplug it, do it now! Yikes.

I've done it over night. Came in the next morning and there was just a little pile of dried hot glue. If you can get into the building or let somebody know, i would do it. Good luck!

I am OCD about that stuff and check several times before I go or take glue gun home w me. Hope all is well. I didn't hear of any school blazes started by a glue gun.

I didn't call anyone, but thank God everything was fine. Just showed up this morning and the glue gun had dripped a small blob of glue. I think the gun is ruined because it had a lot of brown glue at the tip. Next time I use a glue gun, I'm putting the extension cord through my car keys. Thank you all for your feedback.

I would ask the custodian for his cell number in case anything like that happens in the future. Glad it was ok.
