Trick or treat, smell my feet? Settle an argument

Okay, I remember this chant from my youth (many, many years ago ). We always said:

Trick or treat, smell my feet,
Give me something good to eat.
If you don't, I don't care.
I'll just eat your underwear.

My husband claims the last line should be, "I'll just take your underwear."

A group of trick-or-treaters this evening said, "I'll pull down your underwear."

So, which is correct?

BTW, I gave that group extra candy.

ETA: I grew up in small town Missouri, husband is from St. Louis, we now live just outside of Chicago.

That was back when people weren't offended by every little thing. We didn't sing that at the doorways just as we were walking from house to house. We also sang
Trick or treat smell my feet all the way to Charles Street. (Major street)

I've never heard the second part either, but for what it's worth, I think

If you don't, I don't care
I'll just eat your underwear

scans better than

If you don't, I don't care
I'll pull down your underwear.

It also makes more sense after asking for something good to eat. If you don't get it, that's okay, you'll just eat something gross. It makes less sense that you don't care because you'll just humiliate them. You still didn't get anything to eat.

And I have now officially spent far too long analyzing this poem.

What Amiga said! It just stops after "give me something good to eat!"

But I agree with Gromit that the eating underwear makes more sense, given the context

I never knew the last two lines, either, and it's been years since I've heard the first two. I'll run this past my 6th graders today to see if they've ever heard it.

I guess I'm the odd one out. We always said

Trick or Treat, smell my feet
Give me something good to eat
Not an apple, not a pear
Not your stinky underwear

Anyone else ever hear it that way? I'm going to have to ask my 1st graders what they say. I only had one kid say it to me yesterday and he only said the first two lines.
