Georgie update

This picture is of Georgie's better side. His right cheek is still swollen and the infection is slowly oozing out. Good thing the den's carpet is 40 years old so I'm not worried about it. I brought him back for a recheck yesterday and the vet said to bring him back in 2 weeks. The antibiotic he was given is a long acting one.

It may be that he's not feeling like himself but he is not the least bit anxious being inside. Up until now he would eat then immediately want to go outside. His first day inside I showed him the litter box. The next day I found a "present" on the carpet. So I placed the "present" in the box. Later as soon as he finished dinner he went straight to the box! I was so proud of him!

I am cautiously optimistic that we're turning a corner. I'm hoping that once he's better he'll accept being indoors permanently.

Aww, so sweet! Hope that this "low key" time of not feeling at his best helps him see what the finer life is is like inside!

I didn't see your previous post but I gather he got hurt outside. Poor Georgie. He's so cute. He looks just like my Charlie. Charlie was an outdoor cat. He was found by my niece when he was a little kitten. She took him and picked out fleas from his fur took him to vet for everything. He became an indoor/outdoor cat. He was hurt outside and needed surgery. My niece was very young and when the dr told her the cost, she started to cry in his office. He barely charged her anything.
So now I have Charlie. I don't think he remembers that he was an outdoor cat. (for 5 years). I can leave the door wide open and he wont go out. sometimes he'll step foot near the door and when he sees me he dashes back in. He barely even looks out the window. lol..
My point is Georgie will be a great indoor cat and he'll be fine!!

Thank you!

Georgie is/was a 3 year old neighborhood feral that until last year I couldn't touch him. I absolutely hated him being outside in the heat and cold but he can be very stubborn. Last week was the first time he let me pick him up. We've come a long way. He really is a little sweetie, when he's not hissing. If all goes the way I want it to, it will be interesting introducing him to the other 6 cats. That could take another 3 years!
