Seabiscuit is available on Netflix. It is about a race horse but so much more. It is about a group of broken people who came together for a horse. They made one another better on their journey together. If you have never seen this film I recommend it highly.

It's a great film, and the book is even better! I highly recommend both.

Great movie and even better book. I remember when the book came out and all the hoopla. I kept thinking “how much interesting stuff can you write about a horse?” Then I read it....so much more than just the horse.

Did you know the author has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and for years never left her bedroom? So inspiring. She could relate to the people she wrote about.

I’m another who loved the book. Somewhere I have a picture of my grandfather, who was a racehorse trainer during this time, that looks quite like the guy on the cover: suit and hat while working with a horse. Now I’ll have to check out the movie.

I’m not a huge fan of nonfiction, but I liked Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, too. I didn’t know that about her CFS, thanks blueskies.

ETA: I just finished the movie. Fabulous, thanks so much 1956. I was jumping up and down and clapping for the entire race against War Admiral. So much heart and goodness—just what we need in these terrible times. And finally, I felt like I was watching through the eyes of my mom who grew up at those tracks up and down the coast of California (and into Mexico) and greatly admired Red. My mom’s stories came to life for me: “One time at Caliente...” Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed the film. I have seen it three times since it was made and still find it entertaining.
