Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am wanting to use this book for my third grade class, but can not find very many ideas to make a unit. Give your ideas or you can even tell me where to find one. Thanks!

I did Poppy with my third graders during fourth quarter, and they loved it!

I used a lot of material from the "Novel-Ties" series of books. They have comprehension questions, vocabulary, pre- and post-reading activities, and lots more. I have used Novel-Ties with many other books as well, and really like them.

Go to http://store.learninglinks.com/novel-ties-level-4.html and scroll down to Poppy.

When I have ordered online, the books do come pretty fast! Hope this helps!

I don't teach language arts so I don't use Poppy as a novel unit but instead I use it as a read aloud as part of a science unit involving owls and adaptations. Have you thought about dissecting owl pellets along with reading the book? I teach 4th and my kids love dissecting the pellets and relating the idea to Poppy finding Ragweed's earring in the pellet under Mr. Ocax's tree. Just an idea.
