I saw something on Facebook about Flashlight Friday. Blinds are closed and kids read by flashlight. Has anyone tried it?

Did you buy the flashlights yourself?

I did it and the kids loved it. The kids brought in their own flashlights and I brought in a few just in case. I also let kids partner read and share flashlights if needed (but pretty much all my kids brought in flashlights). It was a huge hit.

I'm trying it this year. I bought head lights for each of the kids at Walmart. They were 1.00 a piece. You can find it by the camping stuff.

Here's a picture of them. I looked online and they were sold out. I had to go into a Walmart.

The headband lights add an extra element of fun. Thank you for sharing the idea! DH just returned with 25.

ETA: He got white, gray, blue, pink and ONE red. He doesn't know anything about teaching 7 year olds, does he? Lol

Anything to get kids excited about reading, right? I think I would do it every other week so they don't get tired of it too quickly. Maybe there is another hook you could use on alternate Friday's. Enjoy!

Love the Flashlight Friday!! And the headband lights! I worry about lice transfer. I guess they could each have a baggie to keep theirs in. I am not allowed curtains...will it be dark enough? I am not on the sunny side of the school.
