Stimulus Check received

I was surprised when I logged into my bank account this morning to see we’ve already received our stimulus check! We have two kids so we got $3400. I don’t want to turn this into a political post, and honestly I’m not sure whether or not I totally agree with the idea of stimulus checks. We honestly didn’t “need” it (though we can surely appreciate it!) but I know it will be a lifeline for others.

Right now I’m just setting aside not to use—we’ll just wait and see what we might need it for later!

Did you get yours?

Even if you don't need it, you'll put it back into the economy at a later time. That's how I'm looking at it anyway.

No stimulus check yet. I also have had no loss of income. I think we needed a better and different plan.

Non-profits have suffered devastating losses of income.
Remember not only your favorite charities but also museums, theaters, and various cultural organizations.

Nothing here either.

From what I'm perceiving, those who did their 2019 taxes already and gave their banking info are the 1st ones to get it. For the rest of us who did 2018 OR 2019, but didn't give their banking info, here's the official IRS link that will or should open this Friday to register for the stimulus money...even if you didn't do your 2019 taxes yet:

https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/econ...mpact-payments

The button that's grey now will be clickable on Friday.

Not yet. I too don't technically "need" it, though who knows how the economy will go (prices rising or what not). I think I would like to donate some (either charities that are having a harder time and/or serving people impacted by COVID) and save the rest.

DH got the routing number on our taxes, but somehow forgot the account number. oops! So we're waiting for the link to "Get my payment" to go live.

I'm not sure about the status of my summer employment now, so yes, it will be needed! I haven't checked my banking info in the past week or so, so not sure if I've gotten it yet. In any case, I'm setting it aside for summer expenses. I'm single and no kids, so it's not that huge of a check. But definitely welcome.

I was coming on here MAsped to post that listing, thanks for the link.

I haven't received a stimulus check yet and don't expect it for a while since I haven't done my 2019 taxes. In 2018 I had to pay, so I want to input my banking info encase IRS doesn't have.

Thank you so much for the information about inputting your banking info if the IRS did not have your banking information. I have been waiting for the chance to add this information. This year, my accountant forgot to offer me that option when he e-filed my taxes. Normally, I would prefer a paper check for my tax refunds when I was working, because I would save them and use them as a supplement for my summer income. Now that I am retired, it can go directly into the checking account and I don't care since my pension is paid in the summer and I do not need to hang onto the money in the house. There's no rush in any case. The money will be welcome when it comes.

We electronically filed our 2019 taxes already this year. We have filed electronically for the last 5 years or so, but we have not received our stimulus check.

thank you for the link. We have already done our taxes, but we owed money. We've had to pay the IRS for the last several years. So, I'm assuming that I will need to add our banking info to the IRS site when it opens.

Is your last name in the beginning of the alphabet? I'm wondering if that's the reason you got yours already. My last name is at the beginning, and the money coming in two days.

You didnít get yours yet because they just started rolling out. Not everyone is getting them on the first day. We havenít gotten ours yet either. Youíre going to need to be a little patient. Be thankful youíre getting one.

I'm near the end of the alphabet, so don't expect mine for while. Since I am still getting paid and don't "need" it, I will probably donate some of it to one of the food pantries near my school, since I work at a low income school, with many of our families having lost their jobs due to this. That way it gets the money into the economy right away, I will get the tax deduction next year and people who need food will get it.

We haven't received ours yet, but our daughter's check is pending, and my brother in law's is pending too.

Not even getting into politics, I feel guilty about getting a stimulus check, but it was explained that the purpose of this check is to stimulate the economy. If I spend that money it's helping someone else.

No, Iím in the middle. It could be that I did my 2019 taxes pretty early? I read somewhere they were doing those first.

I have heard multiple people say they have it pending in their accounts to be released on the 15th. My account doesnít show pending deposits like that so I could get it Wednesday, I have no idea.

I donít necessarily need the check right now. I plan on using half of it towards donations benefitting healthcare workers.

We did our taxes in late February, but not only did we not get money back, but we did not owe anything either so we did not submit a routing number. I hear that we have to wait until a particular portal opens up so we can provide that number so it might be a while.

My true income is WELL under 75K, but according to 2019 tax returns I don't qualify for anything, because they counted the money I took out for my house down payment as income. I asked my tax guy and am holding off on filing hoping that I can get the stimulus before the deadline, as based on 2018 (or literally any other year ) I qualify for the full amount. It's probably a gamble because they don't have my bank info (never gotten a refund) so hopefully that portal works out for me. I figured for $1200 it was worth a shot, at least.

I am fortunate that I don't "need" the money to literally put food on the table or anything, but I am very worried about finances in this uncertain time. I have been good about savings, but I expect I'll need to replace my HVAC system very soon and that's a huge expense. I also owed almost $6K on this year's taxes, so there went a huge chunk of that. My refrigerator is very old, and my cell phone is 5 years old now. If all of these things break at once I will be in a real bind. My mortgage payment also went up almost $100 because my property taxes almost doubled . I've also lost my tutoring income, and this $1200 would just about make up for that. We've also been told to expect cuts for next year- P says the state is already talking about furlough days. I am trying to save every penny I can at this point.

As much as I worry about money, I know there are those who are have a far more difficult time. When he gets questions about opening up the economy/impacts of the economic loss the governor keeps brushing it off with "well, the government is paying us to stay home right now. Everyone is getting that $1200." But here, $1200 doesn't even cover rent for one month. There are a lot of people who need A LOT more than that.

I'm glad to hear it's starting to go out. We are a family that truly needs it. Dh is only working at about 20% of his normal hours and at a reduced rate. That check will pay our rent this month. After that, well... who knows what we will do.
