I donít believe they are broken down by semester. They are supposed to have mastered each standard by the end of Kindergarten. Obviously, some have to be mastered before moving on to others, but it would depend upon your curriculum and pacing when itís expected to be mastered.

There isn't an official breakdown, but we've made somewhat of a breakdown on our own. I don't have my school computer with me, but here are some of the key ELA standards from memory:

Tri 1
  • letter names and sounds (short vowel, not long)
  • isolate beginning sound of words
  • retells a story
  • identify parts of a book, character, setting, etc.
  • recognize and produce rhyming words
  • know 10 sight words
  • clap and count syllables
  • blend onset and rime orally
  • dictate a story
  • tries to write independently (in any capacity)
Tri 2
  • isolate ending sound of words
  • blend three sounds orally
  • know 20 sight words
  • writes on simple sentence independently (I can, I see, etc)
  • segment syllables and onset/rime
  • write beginning and ending sound for unknown words
  • beginning to use writing conventions
  • all letters and sounds, including long vowels
Tri 3
  • isolate vowel sound in words
  • segment and blend cvc words
  • write 2-3 sentences independently on a single topic, using basic writing conventions
  • write most sounds for most words
  • knows 40 sight words
  • read grade level books independently (level 3/4)
I know I'm forgetting a lot, but those are most of the "big" ones.
