I’ve had so much fun arguing with the anti-maskers on Facebook today. It’s not like I think I can really convert any of them.
(My purpose in this post is not to argue here on PT. I’m just stating that sparring can be entertaining.)

I’m so bad!

Other than that I’ve spent the day making masks.

ETA: I’m sparring with those responding to our local news stations social media, not people I personally know. I think most, of not all, of my Facebook friends are pro mask.

I hate admitting it, but I agree with you. Sparring can be fun.

I was talking to my sweet, sweet mother last night about all the anti-mask posts on Facebook. Sheís in an area where that mindset is strong, despite Covid numbers increasing. I told her how tempted Iíd been to respond lately...and not nicely. She agreed. I did teach her about the 30 day snooze and unfollow options.

I don't engage because you can't fix stupid. I LOVE the unfollow and snooze options on FB.

You can spar all you want on the politics board here

Confrontation actually really stresses me out. Even online. I can get over it if I'm really passionate about something, though. Then I can go back and forth quite happily. I don't get into the "baiting others so you can spar or start an argument" experience.

The FB sparring is too much for me. Lol makes me want to ditch FB altogether but it's how I kind of keep up with people.

Keep it up! Iíve read about a few people who have changed their minds. The people who just read actually think about what you write. The folks you spar with need someone to provide correct info to counteract their nonsense.

Keep up the good work!

I do this too!

I have a friend who will message me when it is time to stop, so I don't say too much!

I don't spar with people but I've been waiting and waiting for the opportunity to say, "yes, you're absolutely within your rights not to wear a mask but tell me, what is your responsibility around that right? And just out of curiosity, which right would you consider that to be?"

My son asks why I answer people on FB. I explained that I like to drop a thought-provoking or fact-laden comment and then leave. I rarely actually get into the confrontations, I just want the opposing position out there. It kinda' drives people crazy, lol.

Like Grace, confrontation makes me uncomfortable.

My aunt recently married a man who basically believes the opposite of everything I do. Now, she seems to be spouting the same garbage. Sheíll post how everyone should just feel happy-go-lucky and then post really hateful, racist things.

The other day she posted something hilarious about not knowing if we can still say Italian sausage while mentioning a bunch of other stuff that we really should NOT say anymore...nor should we have ever. I pointed out the difference and said what each one implies. She just liked my comment.

I know we should speak out when we hear/see the wrong thing, but Iíve gotten to the point where it seems best to block her. Thereís no getting through to her.

I'm proud of you girl! Keep going with your bad self! Its really sad that people have such a problem with mask requirements and even suggestions!
