Great Christmas Present

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My husband and I finally bit the bullet and decided to get a wall mount TV.

Even though our television was 40", it was difficult to view the closed captioning! Either the CC was too small, or it covered much of the picture!

The TV was too far away in our living room for our aging eyes.

I left the choice up to him. But at the beginning of the discussion with the salesman, I had two requests:
1. Wanted to see the CC to make sure it was large enough on the screen
2. The TV had to be compatible with Bluetooth headphones for my hard-of-hearing husband.

Oh. My. Gosh! We ended up securing a 65" TV in the back of the pickup!

BUT THE BEST GIFT OF ALL: Because of the Bluetooth headphones he chose, I am no longer pushed out of the living room because of the TV volume being up so high! We are finally able to watch TV together! He has his headphones at his volume, I have the TV volume at mine! The headphones' volume works independently from the TV's. Life is good!

We may have to figure out the Bluetooth thing. My dh is turning into one of those deaf old guys! Too much loud music as a youth...if only we could foresee the consequences of our youthful behavior...sigh...

Enjoy your new TV!

next tv

I plan to have my next tv be a larger one (not too, too large) and be a wall mount. My present tv is fine, so no need to do anything yet.

I, also have my tv set on CC all the time! On a visit, years ago, my mother requested CC, so I adjusted the settings to show CC. It's been about 5 years since her last visit to my house. Her health didn't permit her to make the trip, she then went into a nursing home and has since passed.

To this day, I still have the TV on CC, never changed that setting since her last visit.

Congrats on your fun and useful present to yourselves. As another CC user, I learned from you. Thanks.

Hooray! I know you'll love your new TV. We have a large, curved Samsung screen

Wow, that's huge! We still have the 58" Pioneer TV that my DH bought from a friend about 8 or 9 years ago, and I've always thought it was big. I'm actually angling for a smaller one that won't take up as much space.

We have been debating about getting a big screen TV as well...and for the same reasons. Just trying to muster up the energy to research it all. Good for you for completing the task!

When/If you opt for headphones for the hard-of-hearing, be sure they are compatible with whatever TV you purchase.

The type my husband picked out was actually the same brand/model that I had been looking at on Amazon. They worked marginally on our "old" television, and I was quite worried. However he was VERY pleased with them once we got the new television set up. Whew! I had a moment there as I was worried we would have to go with a higher priced set.

There are quite a few on the market, but be sure to look at ones that are designed for the hard-of-hearing.

I appreciate the headphone tip, Beach GLass! Guess this will be my January project.

That sounds like a blast. Enjoy it. Love how you and DH can watch TV now, it is so sweet. That was my fave part! But I also now have visions of 65" TV screens dancing in my head.
