What are some quick calm down strategies when kids are overexcited (students range from grade 1-3)?

1) deep belly breaths
2) push a wall (really good when they’re angry but will probably work for overexcited too)
3) I have a calm down jar I bought and looking at that is great

I second “flow” on go noodle. I used it when the whole class was edgy and antsy.

For an individual, child, I would remind them of the Flow exercises.

Three for flow, heck it works on high schoolers too. Also I will promise a story, that works as motivation and when one or two are still wired, I'll stop and the rest of the class will use positive peer pressure to make them stop. Because they want to hear the story. A good 5 minute story will reap rewards for an hour or more. We are wired to learn by stories, so its a win win.
